Johnson L. “Bubba” Hale Jr., 65, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, May 21, 2011.


Mr. Hale was vice-president of FlowChem Technologies. He attended The Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany and was a graduate of Nicholls State University with a degree in Petroleum Services. He served as Chairman of the Delta chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, was a founder, past National President, Lafayette Chapter Representative and Director Emeritus of the American Association of Drilling Engineers, and a past chairman of the Industry Advisory Committee to the Petroleum Services program at Nicholls State University. He was a devoted father, dear friend to many, and active in several civic affairs, fishing, hunting, coastal conservation and historical organizations. He worked in the drilling services industry for over 36 years in the cities of Houma, New Orleans, Cairo, Egypt and Jakarta, Indonesia.


He is survived by his sons, J. Lyons III, Samuel III, Nicholas and Paul Hale; daughters-in-law; four grandchildren; and brother and best friend, Robert Hale III.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Johnson Hale Sr.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to The Coastal Conservation Association or Looziana Basset Rescue. (Lake Lawn Metairie)
