Joseph Henry Elkins, 71, a native of Waynesboro, Miss., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, July 31.


He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thibodeaux Elkins of Houma; one daughter, Jo Lynn Gardner and husband Joe; one son, Tommy Elkins; three step-children, Kenneth Price II, Toby Price and Angelle Price; one brother, Richard Elkins; one sister, Elizabeth Crane; two grandchildren, Ben and Christy Gardner; three step-grandchildren, Allison Price, Deon Smith and Donoven Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Henry Elkins and Bessie Chapman Elkins; one brother, Billy Elkins; and one sister, Becky Burnett.

He was retired from PesiCo Food Service Division. He loved camping as well as being in Cocodrie fishing with his friends and his brother. He assisted with community projects sponsored by the Bayou Civitan Club.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, August 3, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, at Chauvin Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with burial in Waynesboro Cemetery in Waynesboro, Miss.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
