Joseph Leonard Proskauer, 61, a native of Chicago, Il., and a resident of Houma, La., died Monday, March 3, at 11:30 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Paula Owen Proskauer of Houma; his stepfather, Gerald Chavosky of Chicago; son, Joe Allen Proskauer and wife, Nicki Brunet Proskauer, of Houma; daughter, Michelle Proskauer Marcel and husband, Rick Marcel, of Houma; and grandchildren, Jonathan Marcel, Amber Marcel and Audrey Proskauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Proskauer and Margaret Goyden Chavosky; and daughter, Jillian Proskauer.


He was owner of Cajun Comfort and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Special Olympics, Houma, La., or the National Kidney Foundation.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 6, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Chauvin Funeral Home. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
