Joseph O. Chouest, 83, a native and resident of Larose, La., died Sunday, April 12, at 7:05 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Clara Belle Danos Chouest; son, Noles “Butch” Chouest; daughters, Ophelia Chouest, Susan Chouest and Melinda Pertiut and husband Jeff; brother, Forest Domangue; sister, Enola Cheramie; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ophelia Lafont Chouest; parents, Amadee Domangue and Cecile Chouest Domangue; son, Timothy St. Pierre; and brothers, Peter Domangue and Edward Domangue.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was an Honorary 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Larose.

Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
