Joseph Woolens, 51, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Friday, July 13, 2007.
He is survived by his companion, Betty Charles; seven sons, James Woolens, Nathaniel Kendall, Jody Charles and Tryone Charles, Dontrell and Antrell Amacker and Hayward Kendall; two daughters, Malia Lewis Woolens and Shanlonda Woolens; four brothers, Albert Woolens Jr., Orris Woolens and Gramble Woolens and Michael Woolens; four sisters, Beatrice Hosten, Gwendolyn and Cynthia Woolens and Pamela Link; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosia and Albert Woolens Sr.; one son, Joseph Kendall; one brother, Joseph Woolens Sr.; one sister, Joyce McKay; and his grandparents, Rosie Hawkins Calloway and Nathaniel Calloway Sr. and Fernand Sr. and Avery Woolens.
Joseph was a devout Baptist and U.S. Marine veteran.
Visitation is Thursday, July 18, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the funeral to follow. There will be a religious service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Raceland. He will be buried in Halfway Cemetery in Gray, La.
