Josephine Essie Simon Percle, 80, a native of Reserve, La., and a resident of Chackbay, La., passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph Caffery Percle; mother of Cynthia Zeringue and her companion Michael Mullen and former son-in-law Dennis Zeringue, Susan Zeringue Oddo and her longtime companion Don Vaughn, and Tracie Sowell and her husband Lark Sowell.


She was the daughter of the late Remy and Myrtle Scioneaux Simon; sister of Florence Melanson, the late Ulysse Simon, Claude Simon, Addis Simon, Remy Simon Jr., Carrie Peltier, and Eunice Robinson; grandmother of Kimberly Frazier and husband Lonnie, Melissa Zeringue, Christine Zeringue, Dennis Zeringue Jr. and wife Richille, Lark C. Sowell and Lauren Sowell; and great-grandmother of Heather, Liana, Haley, Brad, Mark, Chloe and Dani.

She was employed by Continental Can Company and the Jefferson Parish School System. She will always be remembered for her love of family and her arts.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor in Chackbay with mass to follow. She will be buried at Our Lady Of Prompt Succor Cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
