Jules LeBlanc Jr., 90, a native of Labarre, La., a former resident of Port Allen and Morganza, La., and current resident of Lakeview Manor Nursing Home in New Roads, La., died Friday, Jan. 21, 2011.


Mr. LeBlanc was an avid gardener and master woodworker. He was most proud of his work on the restoration of the furniture and gardens at Rosedown Plantation. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who never complained and who saw only goodness in others.


He is survived by his sister, Isabel (Clifton) Lasseigne; stepdaughter, Jeanette Milligan; stepson, Wilfred St. Romain Jr.; three step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Lemoine St. Romain; parents, Jules and Celine LeBlanc; three brothers, Edward, Henry and Charles LeBlanc; and five sisters, Ursula Smith, Philomene Hughes, Theresa Matthews, Regina Carmouche and Agnes LeBlanc.


The family wishes to thank the staff at Pointe Coupee General Hospital, Hospice of Pointe Coupee, his sitter, Ceola Parker, and special devoted nieces, Rosemary Schexnayder, Bonnie Cashio, Myrtle Bolner, Sister Barbara Hughes and Carolyn Rushing for their loving care preceding his death.

Pallbearers were Jacque Lasseigne, Eddie LeBlanc, Donald Musso, Barry Oubre, John LeBlanc and Mark Smith. Honorary pallbearer was W.P. “Bill” Thousand.

He is interred at False River Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen.
