Junius “Hookey” Allen, 83, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.


He is survived by his wife, Emma C. Allen; sons, Raymond (Shirley) and Daniel Allen and Terri Hawkins; daughters, Rita Allen, Augustne Bethune and Ernestine (Joel) Vice; sisters, Rosa (Theodore) Brown and Eula Calloway; 32 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his former wives, Irdean Williams Allen and Hester Sneeze Allen; parents, Albert Sr. and Annie Hall Allen; brothers, Daniel and Albert Allen Jr., Charlie Joseph Sr. and Thomas Ringo; and sisters, Ella Mae Short, Bernice Ruffin and Stella Mae Allen.

He was a retired truck driver with the City of Houma.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Community Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Luke Cemetery in Waterproof, La.
