Junius Paul Blanchard, Sr., 81, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Saturday December 20, at 9:00 p.m.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mable Pierron Blanchard; son, Junius P. “Neggie” Blanchard, Jr. and wife Faye of Thibodaux, La.; daughters, Beverly Trahan and husband Davis of Montegut, La., and Brenda Dawson and husband Don of Tallulah, La.; brother, Leo Blanchard of Houma; sister, Elsie LeBlanc of Houma; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Blanchard, Sr. and Agnes Authement Blanchard; brother, Walter Blanchard, Jr.; and sisters, Bessie B. Trosclair, Leola B. Chaisson and Walterine “Sue” B. Cenac.

He was a retired carpenter and electrician and a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. He was a member of the VFW and served in the Army during World War II.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday December 23, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
