Karen Burgess Malbrough, 51, a native of Gasden, Ala., and a resident of Gray, La. died Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2:33 p.m.


She is survived by her mother, Betty Duncan Burgess; son, Dave Duval; daughter, Angela Drobnak LeCompte and husband, Paul; brothers, Gregory Rodney and wife, Susan, David and wife, Paula, and Donald Burgess and wife, Cathleen; sisters, Marilyn Morris and husband, Keith, and Kimberly Boudreaux and husband, Chris; and grandchildren, Tracey and Kayelee LeCompte and Allanah Usey.

She was preceded in death by her father, Randolph Burgess; and brother, Hoyt Dwayne Burgess.


Karen graduated from Nicholls State University in 1998 with an associate degree in Criminal Justice and in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family to help with funeral expenses are preferred.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 and 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, La. with religious services to follow. She will be buried in the Grace Memorial Park cemetery.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
