Cassidy: Louisiana has answers for nation’s woes

Katherine Marie Newsom, 93, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, May 26, 2011.
Mrs. Newsomm was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. She served as past state and city secretary for the Louisiana Women’s Bowling Association. She was a member of the Krewe of Hycinathians and Stinkers Organization.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Carla) Tucker; stepson, William (Nancy) Newsom III; stepdaughter, Judith Pree; five grandchildren, Lisa Orr, Little Becker Ricardo, Oliver Domingue, Amanda Ramirez and Jeremy Michael Tucker; great-eight grandchildren, Thomas and Aaron Orr, Patricia Musacchia, Brandy and Donald Jr. Becker, Crystal Blanchard, Chelsey Domingue and Addison Ramirez; and many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Newsom Jr.; parents, John and Marie Hebert Duplantis; daughter, Patricia Ann Terrebonne; brothers, Hubert, Easton, Elwin, Lewellyn and John Duplantis; and sisters, Iola Belanger, MayBelle Wiltz and Norma Bournias.
We would like to thank Victoria DeHart for her care given to Aunt Kate during her time of need. The family would like to also thank Haydel Memorial Hospice.
She is buried at St. Elie Cemetery. (Chauvin)
