Kelly Gros McCarthy, 45, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Naples, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010.


Mrs. McCarthy was enthusiastic about her Cajun heritage, and she often enjoyed sharing information and stories about the unique food, music, traditions and culture of Southern Louisiana. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education at Nicholls State University and a Master of Arts from Florida Gulf Coast University. A devout Christian, Kelly shared her faith with all who would listen and introduced many to Christ. She also was a musician and artist. Kelly played French Horn and Trumpet as a member of her church praise team and wrote several worship songs. As an artist she enjoyed painting and photography. Her art was displayed nationally in various prestigious galleries and she has won several awards for her artwork. Kelly was a devoted wife, sister, aunt and friend.


She is survived by her husband, Tim McCarthy; one brother, David Gros; and one sister, Karen Gros.
