Kent Ledet Sr., 73, a resident of Morgan City, La., and a humble servant of the Lord, was called home Friday, Aug. 14.


Kent is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Betty D. Ledet; one brother, Sheldon Ledet and wife Marie; five children, Leah Ledet, Challie and husband Warren DeHart, Kent Ledet Jr. and his fiance Debra Riddle, Debra Lee and husband Charlie, and Steve Ledet and wife Karen; two brothers-in-law, Gene Gaudet and Dave Javins; one sister-in-law, Sue Javins; 12 grandchildren, Tabitha, Crystal and Kristy Walker, Toby, Sarah and Phillip DeHart, Kirstin Green, Charlie Jr. and Michael Lee, Zander Ledet and Megan and Lexy Picou; 11 great-grandchildren, Grant, Kelton, Tyreese, Sky, Paige, Ethan, Aden, Owen, Matthew, Grace and Alaina; and a host of nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Freddie and Cecile Ledet; one brother, Gail Ledet; father- and mother-in-law, Phillip and Hortense Domingue; and two sisters-in-law, Grace D. Ledet and Terry D. Gaudet.

He had a good life and made a lot of lives good. He loved God and was a servant of the Lord. He loved, cherished and lived for his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest. He loved fishing, gardening and cooking for all of his many friends and family. His heart and his home were always wide open to all in need. Kent was a member of the Jaycees, Civitan, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Andrews Catholic Church, and the Louisiana National Guard.

The visitation will be 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Twin City Funeral Home and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Father Greg Fratt officiating and Father Toto assisting. Kent will be laid to rest at the Morgan City Mausoleum.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
