Kevin “49er” Stewart, 53, a native of Gibson, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Moses Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran. His hobbies included fishing and traveling.


He is survived by his wife, Pamela M. Stewart of Thibodaux; father, Johnus Hayes Jr. of Gibson; sisters, Shirley Scott, Augusta Jackson and Annie Stewart, all of Gibson, Larender Smith of Baton Rouge, and Delphine Short of Houma.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Gracie Rapp Stewart Hayes; brothers, Martin Jr., Samuel and Butler Stewart and Gary Hayes; sisters, Audrey Hayes and Patricia Stewart; grandparents, Alice Hayes, Johnus Hayes Sr. and Sam and Mary Rapp.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at Moses Baptist Church in Thibodaux. A religious service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church

He will be buried at Mt. Pilgrim Church Cemetery in Gibson.

Kennedy Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
