Larke Watkins Yancey, 86, a native of resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010.


Mrs. Yancey was a facilitator for The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) of Terrebonne for which she worked with great devotion. Her husband was the light of her life and her children were the joy of her life, and our loving God was always her strength. She enjoyed the Women’s Golf Auxiliary at Ellendale and won the club championship. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Ernest J. Yancey Sr.; children, Susan Roos, Lydia Beauvais, Paula Guidry, Ernest Jr., Stanley, Amy, Gregory and Patrick Yancey; sister, Dewey Anderson; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
