Laura P. Royal, 93, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Gibson, La., died Friday, September 26.


She is survived by her son, Michael Maryland; and sisters, Naomi P. McKay and Hazel P. Johnson.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Albert Royal; parents, Townsend and Castina Poindexter; brothers, Albert, Willie and Lloyd Poindexter; sisters, Rosetta P. Maryland, Annie P. Rollins and Mildred P. Mallet; and grandparents, Sally Ellis and George Matthews

She was a member of New Vision Family Worship Center. She was a superintendent of Sunday school and choir president.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 2, at Community Funeral Home. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 3, at New Vision Family Worship Center. She will be buried at Beaulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Gibson.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
