Layman Joseph Gisclair, 83, a native of Cut Off, La. and a resident of Galliano, La. died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at 6:35 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Nita Martin Gisclair; two sons, Jerry “Truck” Gisclair and his wife Linda and Ray Gisclair and his companion Robert Thibodaux; two daughters, Janell Williams and Angie Rosswurm and her husband Ron; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Viola Gisclair; five brothers, Donacien, Orleans, Constant, Valance, and Alton Gisclair; one sister, Edwina Griffin; and one son-in-law, Jimmie Williams.
Layman was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Nita for 62 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of the Holy Name Society and a 20-year employee for the Lafourche Parish School Board.
Visitation is Monday, November 5, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 6, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off, with the funeral to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. He will be buried in the church cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Joseph Hospice at 905 Canal Blvd. in Thibodaux.
