Leola “Ma Ma Lolo” DeHart Lirette, 88, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Theriot, La., died Saturday, June 6.


She is survived by her daughters, Betty Lacoste and husband Malcolm Lacoste Sr., Brenda Liner and husband Roger, Amanda Voisin and husband Evest, Debra McCume, Trudy Fanguy, and Rhonda Smith and husband Edward; sons, Paul Lirette Sr. and wife Thersa, Gary Lirette Sr. and wife Francis, Pete Lirette and wife Brenda, Jessie Lirette and wife Mercedes, Curtis Lirette Sr. and wife Wenona, and Phillip Lirette Sr. and wife Robin; sister, Francis Liner; 52 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lirette Sr.; son, Robert Lirette Jr.; daughter, Judy Lirette; grandsons, Danny Lacoste, David P. Fanguy Jr. and Dwayne Lacoste Sr.; granddaughter, Kimberly Liner; parents, Bridget and Saunder Dehart; son-in-law, David P. Fanguy Sr.; brothers, Ernest and Hebert Dehart; and sisters, Esther Lovell and Enola Lirette.

She was a parishioner of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved bingo and going to the casino. She will be sadly missed by loved ones. Go rest with Jesus.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Chauvin Funeral Home with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Burial will be at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
