Lillian M. Short, 82, a native of Gibson, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, August 30.


She is survived by four daughters, Catherine Wolfe of Gray, La., Crystal Marks of Gibson, Lorenda S. Howard of Houma, and a very loving and devoted caretaker, Mrs. Nettie Trahan of Gray; three sons, Junius Short of Gibson, Howard Short of Houma and Lynward Short of Thibodaux, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Short Jr.; two sons, McCoy Short and Quinton Short; her parents, Jake and Della Mitchell; four brothers, Rance Mitchell, Jim Mitchell, Ezikel Mitchell and the Rev. Able Mitchell; and four sisters, Mary McGuire, Cora Short, Corrine Mitchell and Josephine Spain.

She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church and was retired. She was a member of the sewing club.

She was buried at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery.

Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
