Local troops brace for life away from home

Linus J. Parfait Jr., 58, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at Terrebonne General Medical Center.


A lifelong musician, Mr. Parfait was a member of the youth band at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was employed by Gulf Island Fabrication for more than 20 years.


He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marion Fitch Parfait; father, Linus J. Parfait Sr.; son, Chris Parfait Sr.; daughters, Angie (Todd) Eschete, Kimberly (James “Lurch” Toups), Alicia and Elizabeth “Bit” Parfait; brothers, Peter Jason Parfait, Timothy Cannoles, Lynn Parfait and Kalan Parfait; sisters, Carla Solet, Paula Derouen and Amanda Parfait; eight grandchildren, Shane Michael Parfait, Hunter James Parfait, Matthew Christopher Eschete, Gavin Michael Eschete, Lindsey Renae Eschete, Austin James Toups, Jade Michelle Toups and Kallie Ann Liner; and five godchildren, Carla Solet, Melanie Foret, Hayes Parfait, Kerry Gregoire and Valerie Dardar.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecile Billiot; one grandson, Christopher James Parfait Jr.; and brother, Leray Parfait.

He is buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Houma.
