Louella Cheramie, 78, a native of Raceland, LA. and resident of Galliano, LA., died at 7:16 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007.


Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow, LA. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.

She is survived by one daughter, Nadine “Deanie” Cheramie Pitre and husband, Pat Pitre; one stepson, Minor Cheramie Jr. and wife, Susan Cheramie; one brother, Whiley Cheramie; five sisters, Lena Terrebonne, Eula Breaud, Edith Hebert, Rosita Plaisance and Lois Cheramie; four grandchildren, Cassie Ougel, Jacob Pitre, Lacey France and Minor Cheramie III; and eight great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Minor Cheramie; her special friend, Anthony Curole; her parents, Clovis and Rita Daigle Cheramie; one brother, Eunice Cheramie; and one sister, Beatrice Matherne.

She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Breast Cancer Foundation, 1220 B. East Joppa Road Suite 332, Baltimore, MD 21286.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
