Louis Casvil Coffman, 91, a former resident of Houma, La., and resident of Harrison, Ark., died Thursday, June 24, 2010.


Mr. Coffman worked for the U.S. Geological Society and Texas Oil Company (Texaco). He served in the U.S. Army with the 769th Military Police Battalion. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and attending theoretical productions in Branson, Mo. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houma, a 32nd Degree Mason, Disabled American Veterans and V.F.W. of Houma.


Mr. Coffman was truly an exceptional man. He was loving, kind, gentle and extremely generous. His well-mannered behavior earned him the nickname, “Mr. Clean” by the rough-necks in the oil industry. He was of strong faith and very patriotic. He treasured God, family and children.

He is survived by his son, Thomas (Darlene) Donald Coffman; daughter, Susan (Richard) Hinkle; five grandchildren, Brian and Chad Coffman, Allison Boudreaux, Lance Campo and Apryl Nanney; and seven great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Jennifer, Kaitlyn, Shelby, Brian, Hunter and Savannah.


He was preceded in death by his parents; Louis Casvil and Lily Clark Coffman; wife, Ruth Lenora Coffman; six brothers; and one sister.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the Covenant Christian Academy, 7382 Main St., Houma, La. 70360.

He is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
