Louis Adam Topham, 88, a lifetime resident of Morgan City, La., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010.


Mr. Topham served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and was active in campaigns in Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe WDGO. A graduate of the Army Cooks and Bakers School at Ft. Sam Houston, he served from 1940 to 1945. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and AARP. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, crabbing, camping and boat racing in the Atchafalaya River long ago. His family was first and he would cook for family gatherings and greatly enjoyed his children, grand and great-grandchildren and politics. Louis was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He retired as Maintenance Supervisor for Kerr-McGee.

He is survived by his sons, Willie (Pricilla) and Russell Topham, and Leroy (Brigetta) Bailey; daughters, June “Cookie” Topham and Viola “Pinky” (Larry) Daigle; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great -great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Viola Boudreaux Topham; wife, Agnes Giroir Topham; one son, Louis Topham Jr.; one grandson, Lawrence Topham; four brothers, Oliver, Charles, Baby Willie and Baby Topham; and sister-in-law, Stella Topham.

He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
