Luke Joseph Duplantis, 89, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Feb. 14, at 4:42 p.m.
He is survived by his sons, Luke Jr., Charles, James and Gilbert Duplantis; daughters, Carolyn Brunet, Janice Duplantis and Janet Pellegrin; brothers, Camille, Thaddeus “Bud” and Patrick “Pat” Duplantis; sister, Edith Eschete; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Mae Blanchard Duplantis; his parents, Gilbert and Josephine LeBlanc Duplantis; sons, Johnny and David Duplantis; one great-granddaughter; one great great-grandson; brothers, Gable, Teles and Gilbert Duplantis Jr.; sisters, Elverna Duplantis and Lydie Harris; daughter-in-law, Mary Duplantis; and son-in-law, Ellis Brunet Jr.
Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
