Lydia “Toot” Ruth Blanchard Daigle, 91, a native of Bourg, La., and resident of Gray, La., died at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.


She was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship, Bayou Blue Mother’s Club and Terrebonne Homemakers Association for more than 30 years. She was an avid gardener and a member of the Bayou Blue Garden Club. She started the Clean the Bayou Campaign and beautification projects in the Bayou Blue area.

She is survived by her children, Pearlye (Don) Warner, Henry (Frances) Daigle, John (Katherine) Daigle, Maxine (Doug) France, Gladne (David) Harris, and Opal Daigle; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Daisy Blanchard Glass.


She was preceded in death by her husband, John Daigle; parents, Evans and Theresa Theriot Blanchard; daughter, Rochelle Melancon; grandchild, Lane Daigle; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Oris Dupre, Morris, Ferman, Mazel, Lloyd, Daniel, Ulysse and E.J. Blanchard, Mary Ann Matherne, Eloise Theriot, Iola Shea and Ella Mae Moritz.

She is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
