Lydia Trahan Thibodeaux, 87, a native of Chauvin, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11:50 a.m.

She is survived by four sons, Willard “Neg”, Elgin “Gin”, Autrey “Yot” and L.B. Thibodeaux; two daughters, Juanita “Meyon” Naquin and Brenda Theriot; three brothers, Wilbert, Edward “Eddie” and John Trahan; two sisters, Thersa Lirette and Rosalita “Soeur” Trahan Cunningham; 21 grandchildren, Diane, Wilbert Jr., Maryann, Patty, Ruby, Bobby, Charlene, Maxine, Darlene, Willard Jr., Art, Waylon, Twyla, Karen, Jeremy, James, Chad, Feliciana, Cindy, Jodie and Brent Jr. “B.J.”; 48 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Thibodeaux; parents, Jean B. and Helen Lirette Trahan; four brothers, Wiley, Aaron, Gildy and Justilian Trahan; two sisters, Viley White and Enola Trahan; one daughter-in-law, Evelina “Penu” Collins Thibodeaux; one son-in-law, Wilbert Naquin Sr.; and two great-grandchildren, Vincent P. Naquin and Willard Thibodeaux III.

She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. Her hobbies included sewing and she was a commercial fisherman and a housewife.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
