Mabel Kern Chaisson, 97, a lifelong resident of Houma, La., entered into her eternal rest with her heavenly father Wednesday, March 4, at 6:35 p.m.
She is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Chaisson and wife Mary Chaisson of Houma; daughter, Beverly Gautreaux and husband William “Billy” Gautreaux of Bourg, La.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Chaisson; parents, Myrtile Kern and Justilla Mire Kern; brother, Phillip Kern; and sisters, Wilma Songe, Orine Samaha and Bella Triche.
She was a second grade Catechism teacher for 51 years at St. Francis de Sales and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a nurse’s aide during World War II with the American Red Cross. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
She was buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
