Mable McPherson Washington, 85, a native of Terrebonne and a resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, May 3, at 12:40 a.m.


She is survived by her sons, Warren Washington, Welton Washington Jr. and Elton Washington, all of Houma, and Chester Washington and wife, Paula, of Lafayette, La.; daughters, Wilma Smith and husband, John, of Monroe, La., Wavie Washington, Ashanti Washington, and Ada Parker and husband, Mike, all of Houma; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Welton Washington Sr.; her parents, George McPherson and Olivia Porche McPherson; brothers, Isaiah, Edward, James Clay, Austin and Nathan McPherson; and sisters, Lillie Mae Smith, Helen Adams and Alice Stevenson.

She was a homemaker and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She will be buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
