Maria Elizabeth Chavez, 26, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010.
She is survived by her parents, Jose and Leticia Chavez; daughters, Tatyana and Sariah Smith; brothers, Victor and Julio Gallo and Ramon Chavez; sisters, Rosie and Antonieta Gallo; and grandfather, Ramon Chavez Sr.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tyari Smith Jr.; and grandparents, Jose Perez and Maria Rangel.
She was a Catholic and employed as a medical assistant.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Chauvin, La., with the funeral service to follow. She will be buried at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, Calif.
Community Funeral Home of Houma and All Souls Funeral Home of Long Beach are in charge of arrangements.
