Marie Antoinette Dean, 94, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Dulac, La., died at 9:01 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010.

Ms. Dean was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was well known for her moss dolls and palmetto basket weaving. Her baskets and moss dolls are on display in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. She will be truly missed by all and she was well loved by everyone.


She is survived by her daughter, Rose (Curtis) Pierre; sons, Joseph (Brenda) and Ross (Aline) Dean; stepson, John Dean; stepdaughter, Eva Gregoire; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with burial at the church cemetery.
