Marjorie “Margie” Lirette McMeel, 71, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, January 6.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John J. McMeel of Houma; son, Robert “Robbie” McMeel and wife Becky Guidry McMeel of Houma; sisters, Marion Rhodes, Patricia Lirette, Sharon Neal and Wanda Cook all of Houma; brothers, Russell Thibodeaux, Bobby Lirette and Kenny Lirette all of Houma; grandchildren, Amber Labouve, Dawn Guidry and Margaret McMeel; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Hailey, Taryn and Ian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson Lirette and Beulah Thibodeaux Lirette; and sisters, Delores Lirette and Hilda Pitre.
Mrs. McMeel was a member of the Bowlerettes Bowling League and a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, January 8, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Liturgy of the Word to follow. Burial will be at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
