Martha Hutson Loyd, 94, a native of Mississippi and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, June 5, at 6:45 a.m.


She is survived by her son, Shelby “Don” Loyd Jr. and wife Celeste; grandchildren, Donnie Loyd and wife Laurie, Jeffrey Loyd and wife Sherri, Courtney Pierce and husband Gary, and Cynthia Percle and husband Cary; sister, Gennie Hutson Lovett; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Loyd Sr.; parents, Levi and Alice McCaskell Hutson; brothers, Robert, Jack, L.G., Alfred, Paul, Oscar and Delton Hutson; sisters, Jewel Blades, Era Bell Thompson, Minnie Thurman and Margaret Bridges; and infant great-grandson, Brandon Micheal Loyd.


She was Baptist and a member of the Eastern Star and Masonic Order. She enjoyed playing dominos and she was a cosmetologist for over 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the American Heart Association.

The funeral service was Monday, June 8, at Christ Baptist Church, with burial at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Samart Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
