Martha Vivian Laughlin Vilcan, 80, a native of Acadia Parish, La. and resident of Houma, La., died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006.


Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.


She is survived by three sons, Wayne Vilcan and wife, Juanita, of Chacahoula, La., George “Randy” Vilcan and wife, Marita, of Berlin, Germany, and Rulon Vilcan of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Vira Laughlin of St. Martinville and Morris “Bill” Laughlin of Eunice, La.; two sisters, Versie Foti and Pamela Laughlin, both of Lafayette, La.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Joseph Vilcan; her parents Morris Laughlin and Dovie Johnson Laughlin; and one sister, Emogene Hammon.

She was owner and operator of Cypress Village Gas Station. She belonged to American Legion Auxiliary Post 354.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
