Martha Williams Smith, 102, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Aug. 7.
She is survived by one daughter, Vera H. Williams; one grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claudel Smith; parents, Tazile and Creacy Williams; eight brothers, Rev. Frank B. Williams, Duncan Williams, Benjamin Williams, Johnnie Williams, McKinley Williams, Joseph Williams, Eddie Williams and Willie Williams; three sisters, Melinda Williams, Pearly Williams and Mary Williams; and one granddaughter, Vanessa Williams Stewart.
She was Baptist and a member of New Rising Sun Baptist Church where she served on the Women’s Auxiliary of the 5th District Association. She was a member of the Sunflower Chapter #205 O.E.S, and Grand Court of Calanthe Pride of Houma # 8. She was a retired cafeteria manager for the Terrebonne Parish school system.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at New Rising Sun Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
