Martial Jean “Machoote” Babin, Jr., 90, a native of St. Charles Community, La., and resident of Mathews, La., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012.
Mr. Babin was retired from Chevron Oil Company and was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. He was a caring father and was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He is survived by his companion, Velma Plaisance; former wife, Hazel Babin; daughters, Leona (Jimmy) Cantrelle, Judy (David) Wright, Marsha Arabie and Mary (Greg) Calk; son, Martial III (Sue) Babin; step-children, Carol Richard and Tookie Bruce; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Eurazie Babin; parents, Martial and Evelina Babin; sisters, Leonie Bourgeois, Clara Pitre and Solidelle Haydel; and great-grandson, T.J. Cantrelle.
Burial was at St. Mary’s Nativity Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
