Mary Leola Liner Benoit, 79, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of Gray, La., died at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, September 28.


She is survived by her niece and caregiver for 19 years, Edna “Eddy” Pellegrin; four brothers, Albert “DoDo” Pellegrin and wife Dez, Jessie Pellegrin, Ebert Pellegrin and Robert Pellegrin and wife Virginia; two grandchildren, Stella Arcenaux and Reggie Arcenaux Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Newman J. Benoit Sr.; her father, Oscar Liner Sr.; her mother and stepfather, Leoncia Constranche and Albert Pellegrin Sr.; one son, Newman Benoit Jr.; one daughter, Diana Arcenaux; two brothers, James “Jimmy” Pellegrin and Oscar Linwood Liner Jr.; and two sisters, Jeannette LeBouef and Angelina Dupre.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shield of God Ministry in Bayou Blue, La.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, at Chauvin Funeral Home with a religious service to follow. She will be buried at in Bisland Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
