Medric J. “Spud” Auenson, 96, a native of Berwick, La., and a resident of Golden Meadow, La., died Wednesday, July 23, at 8:30 p.m.


He is survived by his son, Carol J. Auenson; daughters, Goldie A. Danos and Jo Ann A. Bailey; sister, Sybil A. Mitchell; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Barbier Auenson; parents, James Auenson Sr. and Eva Comeaux Auenson; brothers, Lenes, Cornelius and James Auenson Jr.; sisters, Agatha A. Lamp and Eva A. Theriot; and one grandchild.

He was a member of the Blue Lodge, 32nd degree Mason and a former Jerusalem Temple Shriner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a lifetime member of the Caminada Redfish Rodeo. He was a honorary member of the Lafourche Parish Volunteer Fire Department in Golden Meadow. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 25, at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano, La., and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with burial at the church cemetery.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
