Melvin B. “Slick” Williams, 80, a native and resident of Belle Rose, La., died Sunday, July 31, 2011.


He is survived by his sister, Albertha (Charles) Drexler; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lasan and Selma Williams; and sister, Velma Nelson.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5 at Williams & Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville, La., and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at St. James United Methodist Church in Belle Rose with religious services to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Williams & Southall)
