Merian Ann Fontana Henry, 78, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012.


Mrs. Henry was a retired teacher with 30 years of service with the Terrebonne Parish school board. She taught immediately out of high school at the Dulac Indian School while attending Nicholls State College and also taught at Bourg Elementary, Legion Park School and Lisa Park Elementary. After retirement, she became a real estate agent. She was a member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild and a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.


She is survived by her husband, Eddie Henry Jr.; son, Eddie III (Linda) Henry; daughter, Susan (Anthony) Hebert; brothers, Peter and Steven Fontana; sisters, Rosemary Pizolatto, Betty Jean Ward and Kathryn Mizell; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Congetta Fontana; sisters, Antoinette Bergeron, Clara Fontana, Patricia Bellanger and Congetta Burke; and brother, Charles Fontana.

Burial was at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
