Modesta Stoufflet Lapeyrouse, 92, a native of Chauvin, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 2:42 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010.

Mrs. Lapeyrouse was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church, and a member of the St. Louis Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and baking.


She is survived by her son, Paul (Linda) Lapeyrouse; daughter, Paulette (Chuck) Allred; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Lapeyrouse; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.


She was predeceased by her parents, Oleus and Adele Duplantis Stoufflet; son, O.J. Lapeyrouse; sisters, Ethel Bear, Yvonne Eaves, Maisie Hebert, Elphia Authement and Ollie Carver; and brother, Clifton Stoufflet.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, at Chauvin Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

She will be buried at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery.

Donations to the Louis Infant Center in Mrs. Lapeyrouse’s name are appreciated in lieu of flowers.
