Moise Matherne, 86, a native of Des Allemands, La., and resident of Raceland, La., died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010.


Mr. Matherne was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church. He was a World War II and Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his daughters, Marlene Matherne and Melinda (Donald) Punch; son-in-law, Ned Matherne Sr.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma Matherne; second wife, Lorraine Matherne; parents, Alcide and Evangeline Matherne; step-mother, Louise Trauth Matherne; one daughter, Eula Mae Matherne; one brother, Milton Matherne; and one sister, Mae Johnson.

He is buried at St. Mary Cemetery in Raceland.
