Morris Hunter Sr., 80, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and resident of Galliano, La., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013.


Mr. Hunter was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He began working for Grand Isle Shipyard in 1965 and retired in 2012 after 47 years. He was the founder of Christian Family Center and taught his children to read and live God’s word mainly by example.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Melvina Hunter; sons, Morris Jr. (Pamela), Wayne (Suzette) and Todd Sr. (Sandy) Hunter; daughters, Ramona (Tom) Soper, Bridget Hunter and Wanda (Wayne) Grabert; brother, Stanley Hunter Sr.; 24 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Enes Sr. and Aline Hunter; brother, Enes Hunter Jr.; and sister, Earline Bouffaine.


Burial is at Barrios Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
