Morris Lee “HUGGY” Charles, 63, a native of Morgan City, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 5:25 p.m. Monday, Aug 1, 2011.

Mr. Charles enjoyed football (Pittsburgh Steelers), fishing and spending quality time with his family.


He is survived by his wife, Gracie Charles; daughters, Jacqueline (Nathaniel) Jupiter, Bridget (Jerome) Young, Karen (Keith) Vanburen, Sabrina (Mark) Dabney and Aaliyah Charles; sons, Warren Boyd, Morris Jr. (Veronica) and Ronald Charles; brothers, Harold (Sybil) and Anthony (Deidra) Charles and Sammie (Carlett) Hollaway; sisters, Bessie (Herman Sr.) Jones and Carolyn (Wedell) Charles; 31 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Irene Charles; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three nephews; one brother; one sister-in-law; and a very good friend, Gina Pressala.

Burial was at Morgan City Cemetery. (Jones)
