Mr. Douglas Kees, 87 a native of Germantown, Ohio, and a resident of Thibodaux, La., died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at 2:04 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Murrel Landry Kees; son Craig (Mary Jo) Kees; daughter, Gay (Ken) Lawrence; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents John R. and Ada Emerick Kees; and brothers, Donald and Elwood Kees.

He served Thibodaux and the surrounding area as the owner and operator of Landry and Thibodaux Funeral Homes. He was the past president of the Thibodaux Lions Club and the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association and served as a board member on the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors. He was past Grand Marshal of the Thibodaux Volunteer Fire Department and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Visitation will be 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5 and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Thibodaux Funeral Home’s Chapel. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

Landry’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
