Mrs. Joe Rene Groves Pittman, 83, a native of Vancleave, Miss., and resident of Metairie, La., died at the Colonial Oaks Living Center in Metairie Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010.

Mrs. Pittman was owner and co-founder, along with her late husband Clifford Pittman, of Causeway True Value Hardware of Metairie, True Value Hardware of Thibodaux and True Value Hardware formally on West Main Street and West Park Avenue in Houma.


She is survived by her children, Michael (Jeanne) Pittman of Arlington, Wash., Patricia (George) Brue of Metairie, Cynthia (Larry) Haw of Metairie, David (Linda) Pittman of Thibodaux, Joe (Jim) Daigle of Thibodaux, and Marjorie Upshaw of Houma; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Bingame of Vancleave, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Pittman; parents, Lillie Mae Hopkins and Walter Gaston Groves; and brother, Walter G. Groves.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
