Muriel “Mo” Offan, 90, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010.


Ms. Offan was the first Louisiana employee hired by Kaiser Aluminum of Chalmette, La., in 1951 as secretary to the works manager and later retiring in the 1960’s. She was also selected secretary of the year in New Orleans while employed at Kaiser Aluminum. She was a Katrina evacuee residing in Malta Square Retirement Home in New Orleans, later relocating to Thibodaux at St. Joseph Manor Home.

She is survived by her brother, Ken Offan; nieces, Catherine Lee, Muriel VanHorn, Margaret Offan and Julianne Gideon; grand-nephews, Bret Lee, Carter VanHorn and Andrew Gideon; grand-nieces, Kate Lee and Alicia VanHorn; and her former sister-in-law, Jean Murray Offan.


She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene M. Offan; and one aunt, Alice Mayronne.

She is interred at Hope Mausoleum in New Orleans.
