Murray F. Landry Jr., 87, a native of Belle Rose, La., and resident of Labadieville, La., died at 8:09 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012.

Mr. Landry was a 1941 graduate of Belle Rose High School and 1949 graduate of LSU (1949). He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, U.S. Air Corps and Louisiana National Guard and retired from the military as a colonel. He taught at several schools and was sheriff of Assumption Parish for 16 years. His hobbies were hunting, fishing and cultivating Louisiana irises.


He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Joy Thibodeaux; sons, Murray III (Julie) and Mark (Melanie) Landry; daughters, Debra (Dwayne) Sagona and Susan (Gerald) Mire; stepson, Kyle (Stacy) Lasseigne; stepdaughter, Kris (Wayne) Guillot; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Iris Landry; parents, Murray and Clara Landry; brother, Pierre Landry; and sister, Shirley Mikeska. (Ourso)
