Nauly John Blanchard, 83, a native of Chauvin, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Sept. 13.


He is survived by three sons, Victor Blanchard and wife Ruby of Houston, Texas, Rodney Blanchard and wife Connee of Tucson, Ariz., and Karl Blanchard of Houma; one daughter, Jana DeCol and husband Daniel of Houma; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jessie Duplantis; parents, Honore Blanchard and Elvire Theriot Blanchard; one daughter, Lane Dorsey; four brothers, Clodomire “Drauzin” Blanchard, Preston Blanchard, Milton “Mean” Blanchard and Norris Blanchard; one sister, Lelia “Lillian” Trahan; and one grandson, Sgt. Dustin D. DeCol.

He was a retired body shop manager for Porche Motor Company. He was the kindest, most gentle man you have ever known. He was the most devoted husband, father and grandfather ever.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Chauvin Funeral Home. A military service will be at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow.

Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
