Behind basin restoration, Maloz leads
October 24, 2011Newman J. Benoit Sr., 90, a native of Thibodaux, La., and resident of Labadieville, La., died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011.
Mr. Benoit served in the military during World War II where he received a purple heart, two bronze metals, a good conduct medal and other awards.
He is survived by his sons, Newman Jr., Patrick and Barry Benoit; daughters, Aline Benoit, Ethel Griffin, Alice Blanchard, Barbara Champagne and Brenda Delaune; sister, Rose Guidry; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evella Benoit; parents, Roselues and Juith Benoit; two grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters.
Burial was at St. Philomena Catholic Church Cemetery. (Landry’s)
