Nicholas Smith Jr., 74, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Tuesday, April 8.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Outly Smith; son, Andre G. Smith and wife Quandolyn; daughters, Cynthia Anderson and husband Jeronica, Natalie Taylor and husband Eddie, Pamela G. Smith, Lisha Price and husband Phillip, Robin Smith and Rosalind Celestine and husband Alonzo; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Smith Sr. and Florence Jones Smith; sons, Nicholas Smith III and DeWight Elroy Smith; daughter, Deidre Lynette Smith; sister, Carrie Mae Smith Fletcher and Dolores Smith Williams; and grandparents, Carrie & Uriah Smith and Carrie & Dock Jones.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Southern University Quarterback Club & Alumni, LSU Board of Supervisors and Louisiana Lottery Board. He was a retired Teacher/Principal with Terrebonne Parish School Board and a principal at Upper Little Caillou and East Street School. He enjoyed fishing and Smith Trucking Company.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday April 11, at Community Funeral Home in Houma, La. Wake services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Chauvin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He will be buried at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum.
Community Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
